The Technical Side of ETFs
This book is written for the financial professional, not the layman.I routinely buy and sell ETFs, but this book is too technical for me.I will use it only for the lists of ETFs included.

A manual you'll actually enjoy reading
I bought this book thinking I simply was getting just the most recently written manual on ETFs. Instead I found a book that not only illustrates the inner workings of an ETF but one that tells the ETF story and describes the dynamics of the ETF marketplace from product creation, valuation, trading and execution. The book's title probably undersells it.The book would appeal to any ETF player - investors, broker-dealers, traders, exchanges, advisors, aggregators, etc. No matter what your role or position is in the ETF marketplace, the book helps you understand the functions and motivations of the other players for best execution. The author, Dave Abner, provides predictive insights. While everyone would understand the importance of liquidity, he illustrates how you can calculate the potential liquidity of an ETF at the start by its least liquid component. Abner moves forward and suggests potential future steps in solving the dilemma of potentially low trading volumes in new ETFs such as NAV crossing. This is the most captivating "manual" I've ever read.

Must Have
If you are an investment professional and are trading, or interested in trading ETF's this book should be on your desk. I have reviewed several ETF publications in the past few months. I returned all of them except for this one. As we know ETF's are not just another equity. This publication exposes the myth that posted volume of an ETF is its liquidity. It also explains the best method of buying and selling ETF. This point alone can save you hundreds of thousands on transaction fees. (Of course this is on an institutional size trade.) It also empowers you with the knowledge of how the market makers and broker dealers work with these products. With over 800 listed ETF's for just the United States, as a professional money manager you owe it to yourself to read book. It will assist you in doing your due diligence on these investments. As you can tell I think this is a must read!

The latest and best ETF book
ETFs clearly are a hot topic in finance - the fastest growing asset class these and a revolution in asset management.Dave Abner's "The ETF Handbook" is the most recent and most complete handbook on ETFs.The book stands out by virtue of its comprehensive and detailed coverage of the ETF business. I recommend in particular the chapters on the structure and mechanics of ETFs, the regulatory and tax aspects as well as the nitty-gritty steps involved in bringing an ETF to market. The book is written from a practitioner's perspective and it should be invaluable to participants in the ETF industry as well as to ETF investors who seek to understand the product.

A "must have" reference book for anyone who trades ETFs
I have read many of the ETF books available and all covered the basics. I had been looking for an advanced book that discussed the unique manner in which ETFs trade and this book fit the bill. As a finance professional focused exclusively on ETFs, this book helped me to better understand the mechanics of ETF trading which has greatly improved my performance.

I question the 5-star reviews
I'm not sure how this got such high ratings. I think the author has a lot of friends that help him promote the bookThis book is difficult to read, very technical and gives absolutely no information on actually how the regular person may trade ETF's. It's an expensive book and not worth the money.

The best book in ETFs
Dave Abner has done a superb job. The ETF Handbook is the absolute reference for the novice investor and the seasoned professional. Abner describes in a simple way the introduction process up to exchange listing, trading methods and analyzes the players and the markets. It is the only book that explains how to price an ETF. Smart and detailed, all the information from an industry "insider".
