Great that this film is available.
This film is an odd story and worth the watch for many who don't consider the more personal facets of people who went through the war and how luck, chance and yes, fear are a constant. This story is a bit watered down to make it more palatable to the public and I hope people will take time to watch it.The BD version of this movie is not with great sound nor amazing clarity and colour. However, it is just at that right level to invite the viewer in and comfortably watch one individual's journey through a war with minimal violence to get the various points across.Great movie, BD presentation decent and highly recommended. Criterion did a good job on this one as they usually do!

One of the most Incredible Stories of WW II
Is this story 100% true? Maybe not. Enough is factually accurate to make it a compelling movie. The main character is a young German Jew, Solomon. He is as German as he is Jewish. That is, his identity, how he sees himself, is both. And it is crucial to the storyline. His family flees Germany to Poland after Kristallnacht. He flees Poland when the Germans attack in 1939 and ends up in the new Soviet territory. Then, in 1941, the Germans attack. How he copes with that, how he survives [or dies, I won’t ruin it for you] is one of those one in a million mysteries of the world at war.Could this have happened? The story of Yang Kyoung Jong, a Korean conscripted into the Japanese Army, captured and impressed into the Red Army, captured and impressed into the Wehrmacht, then finally captured by the Americans and repatriated to Korea tells it all.Everything is great. All the acting. All the sets and photography. The best and most pivotal moment-Germans invade the Soviet Union, and overrun his village. Solly is identified as a Jew.How can he survive, and what does he need to do to _continue_ to survive?A truly inspiring movie.

True Story
After seeing this movie 15 years ago, I knew I had to own it. Incredible true story of faith, determination and high risk. You just knew that God had a better plan for his life. Nothing is a coincidence. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.

Holocaust movie
Always a story to be told is the one of the Holocaust. These films continue to shed light on an unimaginable piece of history and how sad it is for man to treat others with such disdain due to their differences. Fortunately, this film has minimal violence. A must have if you are have a DVD library.

Holds your attention
I don't remember how I came across this movie, but I had it in VHS, then I bought it when it came out on DVD, and it is such a favorite of mine that I bought it when it was released on Bluray. The true story of a WWII Jewish teenage, who hid in plain sight of the Nazi's and escaped the concentration camps. Having Aryan looks, he, through twists and turns, even ended up in the Hitler Youth Camps. It was a daily effort to keep his jewish roots concealed. Very entertaining, as well as a true factual story. I highly recommend it.

EXCELENTE PELÍCULA
Una de las mejores películas sobre el Holocausto. basada en una historia real. Definitivamente un clásico. El DVD contiene entrevistas con la directora de la película, el actor principal y el hombre, en cuya historia, está basada la película.
