Crystal PilotFlightFolio (Compatible with Mini iPad_5). Premium Full Grain Leather Flight Kneeboard

The media could not be loaded.  I have no faults with the build quality or materials yet.The product comes as a folding folio with an integral plastic cradle for the iPad Mini, magnetic closure which adapts to an iPad stand, one slightly small clipboard, and a single elastic leg strap with a hook and loop closure.There are magnets under the front and inside top. The intention is to strap the folio to your knee, then use the clipboard either on top with the folio closed, or inside and to the left side of the open folio. If one does that, there is no support for the cover and clipboard.I found the magnets for the clipboard mount to be somewhat weak. I attempted to use rare earth magnets to strengthen the bond, but the clipboard never feels secure.The clipboard is almost exactly the same size as a junior notepad. It's printed with IFR information, which is covered if you're using a notepad. There is a plastic card provided which contains printed VFR information. It's about the size I would have liked the clipboard to have been. Slightly larger than the clipboard itself.I almost never use the iPad stand feature, so this is a design element that is wasted.I find the product to be bulky, and I'm still looking for a reasonable setup to use both a clipboard and iPad mini in flight.For the amount I paid, a second leg strap could have been really useful. I can't afford to lose my clipboard in flight because the manufacturer cheaped out on the magnets or clipping mechanism. They could have dropped a 2nd strap, and made the clipboard large enough to be functional.I'm going to keep looking for a solution that works for me.

I just bought this hoping my iPad mini 3 would fit and it does not. Any help on how I can keep this knee board while accommodating my current iPad?

I’m an aeronautics student at Embry Riddle and also student pilot. I knew in advance that this would be a good product because I already own the Crystal Pilot LH1 lightweight headset. From my experience and what I’ve heard from friends is that all crystal pilot products seem to be very well designed and made with the best materials!I use my iPad mini on a daily basis and so the Flight Folio is good for keeping it safe and the leather makes it classy looking. It also has a useful stand built in the front cover so that I can watch movies or use it with my wireless keyboard. When I go flying I just have to attach the elastic strap to it. I plan to use this with the Foreflight software when I become more experienced in flying but for now I just the aluminum kneeboard (that attaches magnetically to the front) to hold the checklist and other items. I also like the pen holder and the pockets for storing credit cards and ID.

The Crystal Pilot FlightFolio is okay. As others have written... The clip-board does not stay on very well. The magnets are too weak. Also, it's very annoying that the Folio will not close properly with the clipboard attached.

What luck! I was in the market for an iPad case and was thinking of getting the MGF Folio C when I came across the Flight Folio. I wasn't disappointed because it has everything I need. It's made with beautiful high quality leather similar to my Coach leather wallet and I particularly like the way the clipboard can attach to either side of the front cover. The best thing about this is that I don't need to buy 2 cases for my ipad since I can use this one in the work office and in the Cessna office. Good price too! the MGF one was more expensive and it looks too bulky for my tastes

Did a lot of shopping around for a nice Kneeboard for an iPad mini 5, here on amazon and on Sporty's. I wasn't sure if I'd like this one but I've been doing my flight training with it for a couple weeks now and I think it's a great product. Would recommend to other pilots who have an ipad mini 5.

this is just what I needed. I wanted a holder for my ipad and also a kneeboard for when I go flying and so this worked out great. Leather is very good quality and I like how the clipboard attaches to the inside and outside of the front cover. Very well designed piece of kit!

Great Kneeboard, doesn’t feel cheap. Feels like it will last years like a nice leather wallet, and it is a good size. Can switch from clipboard to iPad seamlessly. Overall very happy with this one.
