Initial impressions? Better than expected.
These are better than I expected, considering the price and some of the reviews which claim that the connectors are so wide that they actually push the SATA power connecters askew. I'm going to say that I think those reviews might have been accurate at the time they were written (which appears to have been a couple of years ago) but I ordered 4 of these cables and they just fit every SATA drive I have. I wouldn't say there's room to spare but on mechanical HDDs from WD and Seagate, they fit and they don't dislodge the power cable at all. (EDIT - I ONLY tried these on mechanical hard drives. I did NOT think to try them on my SSD because it's mounted in a place that is less than ideal for accessing it. I will update this if I ever try it but don't assume it fits SSD based on this review because though I see no obvious reason why it wouldn't, I'm not sure). I didn't order these for the UV functionality at all so I can't comment on that. I purchased these because I was looking for short, inexpensive round SATA cables. I was simply tired of dealing with the standard SATA ribbon cables that are so common. As you might know if you have a cheap case that isn't really made for ideal cable routing and the HDD connectors are rear-facing, the long SATA ribbon cables you can pick up anywhere are a nightmare. I don't even have a windowed case but I just hate dealing with them. These are much tidier than the 18" ribbon cables and are just long enough for my hard drives. They are not quite as flexible as I had hoped but unlike regular SATA cables, they DO flex in all directions and don't seem to put any undue pressure on the ports. As to the speed, it seems OK. I'm not too knowledgeable on that so I will just say I haven't noticed any lagging or anything. I'd rather not comment than get it wrong.UPDATE - SEPT 13 - 2015 OK. I thought I should update this. These cables have been working fine since I bought them except for a few glitches. Every now and then I'll notice one of my hard drives has lost connectivity and I have to shut off the computer and restart it before it comes back on. Now this has only happened a very few times and when it does happen, it's usually after I've been inside the case tinkering around. Probably bumped a wire or something. But that's just it. A SATA cable shouldn't be that touchy. Nevertheless, they do what I wanted them to do. They're easy to bend into a specific shape and they stay the way you bend them and that takes a lot of strain off your SATA ports on your MB. If you can't afford to buy a new MB every few years and you're always reconfiguring your system, you do need to watch those ports. I've never had one die on me but they frankly just don't look or feel that sturdy. Not even on high end boards. Abtway, SATA cables should have been round to start with and I love the way these hold their shape. They were worth the price.

Excellent quality, excellent price
I was looking for some inexpensive SATA III cables and stumbled upon these.I'm using them in my mini-ITX with Crucial SATA III SSDs. They are nice/sturdy/shielded cables and provide good performance. Using Passmark Performance Test benchmark I am getting 260MB/s with the SSDs - which is pretty good, though still not above 3Gb/s of SATA II.The length is a bit long for the mini-ITX case, but price/quality were my first two requirements - I coiled/stuffed the extra cable in nooks/crannies where possible. The locking works well, though slightly difficult to get off - which is possibly a result of the small space I have to work with inside my mini-ITX.For a standard ATX case/build these will be an excellent option.I'll probably purchase a few additional just to keep around.Update:11/26/2011 - please don't use my throughput benchmark as basis for judgement on these cables. My 260MB/s is low most likely because I cannot run the machine in AHCI mode with the SSD. In AHCI mode, I know people are pushing 500MB/s with the Crucial SSDs.

Good quality, works great
With the round cable, it's easier to flow it through my system, it also causes less potential problems with air flow restrictions. I'll be upgrading to SATA3 shortly and wanted to buy the right cable in preparation for that upgrade. This upgraded cable is what will be required to get full speed from a SATA3 SSD. Concerning the latching tabs, I prefer to have these so that when I move my system or work inside it I know that the SATA connections will remain secure. There are latches at both ends. The cable plastic covering is made from what appears and feels like a nice grade plastic, it feels good, is fairly firm but still flexible enough for small loops; the ends are injection molded and are attached securely. When connected to a typical hard drive, the cable will point down.I've also posted a picture of this cable in a Shuttle SH67H3 SHUTTLE SH67H3 PC Barebone System so you can see how the cable was easy to loop and feed to the correct locations when I could have used a 12" or shorter cable.5 stars for doing exactly what it's intended purpose is and working well.
