No information on the motor.
I purchased one motor and it worked great. A few weeks later I purchased another one, it worked great. The only bad thing is that it comes with no information. I had a hard time with figuring out the conversion on the wiring. I need to know how the motor is wired inside. I went to briggs and stratton web site and gave the model number and it gave me a hundred different drawing. If you enter the model number, it should give you the information on that motor. If it were not for that I would give it 5+.

Your current hardware might not fit perfectly
Great running motor. The difficult things were that the bolt holes were smaller and required either tapping them or just a bolt and nut. And my exhaust didn’t hook straight up. It required me to cut, bend and weld to make it fit. My mower is the toro ss5000 time cutter with the 23hp Kawasaki. The motor once installed has worked great just mowed 4 acres last night.

New engine, good fit, good price
Engine, model 44N677, arrived a day earlier than promised. It is replacing a BS model 405777 in a John Deere 145 Automatic. The new engine fit was mostly pretty good. Wiring plugged right into the existing harness. The new engine has a one cable throttle choke and the mower is setup for a separate throttle and choke. The existing throttle and cable hooked up and operates the throttle choke just fine. The only fit issue was the new engine/cowling is about 1/2“ to 3/4” taller than the original. The hood does not now close all of the way. I did remove the plastic ring under the blower screen and it almost fits. The intake duct will need to be trimmed to fit better.I also tapped the mounting holes for my application as the engine mounting holes are not pre-tapped. I put SAE 30 weight oil (about 64 oz) in it and plan to change oil in 8-10 hours. I have put about 2 hours on the engine so far and it runs very well. I would recommend that he seller include some basic information about the engine, installation tips, oil to use and break-in guidelines. However, the engine did pretty much dropped in and plugged right up. Looks and sounds like a good engine and was a very good price with free shipping. Installation difficulty on a scale of 1-5; I’ll give it a 3. Not too difficult. It only took about 3 hours to swap out the engine. I would have rated the product a 5 overall, but it really needs some documentation included with the product. Thumbs up!

Shipped in 2 days, Great replacement, great price
Replaced a blown 25hp with this engine. Had to tap holes in engine block for engine to frame mounting, easy if you have taps, I do. If not consider getting you some nuts, bolts and washers from a local hardware. Old engine had exhaust bolted with hex head (Allen) bolts. New engine has no exhaust, just studs. Had to remove studs in my case. They had a star head, I used a 5mm, 6 point socket and they came right out. (Maybe not ideal but I had no issues doing it that way and socket did not slip). The other exhaust bolted right up using my existing Allen cap/ hex head bolts. Check oil filter, mine was loose and some oil had leaked in the box. Engine holds about two quarts when full. I emptied what was shipped in it. It wasn’t much and then added two full quarts of 10w30. Look at briggs website for oil weights based on operating temperatures for your area. Save parts from the old motor if you have one like I did because you may need to swap a part or two depending on your setup. Overall not bad at all and about the most cost effective solution I could find and surely can’t beat the fact that it arrived in two days with free standard shipping. Well pleased.

Complete engine, just bolt it on and go
I used this engine to replace a blown engine on a Cub Cadet Zero Turn Mower. Only thing I needed off the old engine was the pulleys

Good replacement motor for Toro z 4800
Replaced the original engine on my 2007 Toro z4800 with this one. Runs good. Great replacement for these zero turns. Engine came with no manual or paperwork! Wiring harness had to be cut off and direct wired because existing harness on mower did not match up. Has an automatic choke so no need for that choke cable anymore. Info on Break in period is no where to be found so I’ll be changing oil after 6 engine hours.
