Fair trade Glass Hippo Sculpture Pair (O3-D/E)

I have been collecting these small nuggets of joy for more than 20 years - before Ngwenya glass became a ‘thing’. I love the hand made sculptures, the weight of the pieces. A while ago several of my original pieces were stolen and when I went looking for replacements found the cost increase staggering so did not immediately make a purchase. Finally, as a treat I purchased a pair of hippos and a two elephant set (the smallest pairing) and crossed my fingers hoping they would be worth the price tag. I was not disappointed. They are as delightful as I remembered even though the elephant design was not the same as those that had been taken. When I am again feeling extravagant I will buy more.

Have seen these in a shop locally, but the cost was more expensive. Ordered on line through Amazon, Cub Den and they arrived well packaged, on time and in perfect condition. Its a heavy item as made from re-claimed glass - eco friendly and a wonderful gift - they do elephants, hippos and rhinos. The light shines through the glass and is quite spectacular.

My sister is obsessed with hippos, these were a Christmas present. She loved the hippos but she also loved the note from the person they were made by and the real handmade nature. Brilliant for giving as a gift to a hippo lover!
