Dab Power Button
Physically this unit looks well made. I never used mine in actual data handling as it had a fundamental design feature that was an issue. It has a dab power button. You turn the power on, then you have to furtle round the back to find the power button before you can actually use the disks. I needed the ability to remote control the disk unit, to turn it on and have the disks available. This is not possible with this unit. They do make some larger units with toggle switches, rather than dab ones, but this is not one of them. It was returned.

Failed AGAIN! Don't buy it
Edit: The enclosure failed again with the loss of all data in it. I don't think I just got a bad apple... I believe this product is UNRELIABLE! Do not buy it. You've been warned.---I hope Amazon let's me change the review once I get to to bottom of this disaster. Regardless of the causes, fact remains that I loaded 5TB of data important to me (some of which irretrievable) to the two 10TB disks in RAID 1 in the enclosure. I was betting that the RAID 1 mirror would provide a sufficient level of redundancy to the data (that was previously in a 4TB RAID 10 drive on a server). I was wrong! :(Now, work has been very demanding over the lasp 10 days which prevented me from making a proper analysis of the causes of this disastrous loss of data. I did, however, let recovery software scan the 10TB logical drive 2x (took nearly 2 days each time) in the hope that some data could be retrieved. The software read sector by sector of the 10TB logical drive, but when it came to try to understand the data there appeared to be nothing in the file table (MFT in the old days) that could be read and understood by the software. So, let me tell you what the situation was and you can then make up your own mind. The enclosure had been working for about 10 days with the 2 aforementioned 10TB Toshiba disks (MG06ACA10TE). These were also bought brand new.At some point I wanted to move a large amount of data from one folder to another inside the drive (an operation you know takes seconds). After 10 min the task was not responding and I could also not cancel the move. I tried to gracefully remove the drive but windows was, obviously, not letting me. Something had gone terribly wrong and after waiting anotherr 5 min trying to decide what to do next, I decided to just turn off the enclosure (I probably should have shut windows down). Now I don't know if this was the cause of the disater or not, but to add insult to injury, the enclosure was in a somewhat diffilcult to reach position (under a monitor stand) and instead of pressing the power button I pressed the "Set" button by accident. It this was the main cause (obviously disconsidering the fact that the enclosure was already struggling to move files) I accept my level of responsability in this mess, but that makes my review no friendlier to the manufacturer... who is their right mind puts the "Coffee" button right next to the "Launch Nuclear Missiles" button with no chance of an "Abort"?After trying the recovery software, I also tried removing the disks, connecting them individually to a SATA to USB cable and analysing the disk states with commands like DISKPART and others. Eventually I had to accept the loss and went through the process of reinitializing the RAID 1 array, but I am now very worried about storing data in that enclosure. To top it all the Orico RAID management software doesn't work at all for this enclosure and I have also tried to run the Firmware updating tool just to see the result (with no intention of updating the firmware) and the result was "Incompaticle CHIP". I have still not taken the decision to send it back as the enclosure is otherwise a really nice device. Built quality feels great.I am not quite sure if I am still within the return window, but regardless if the enclosure is faulty it should fall under normal warranty.I hope my experience, exclusively based on facts, has contributed to your decision somehow. I have no intention of impacting this company's sales, but data loss is something very serious, especially when you spend > £500 as a private individual to try to mitigate this from happening and 10 days later your worse fears materialise.

Top Quality Raid Enclosures.
Amazing quality Raid Enclosure. They work very well with NAS. The Orico Raid Enclosures also hibernate very well as well as auto stitch back on when the NAS automatically shuts down and starts back up again when you set a time up.Raid sets up very easily and the Orico website has the software for PCs to set up raid.I for one highly recomend the Orico Raid Enclosures.

Day One Turned all drive to RAW Format! Does NOT WORK!
So i bought 2 x Seagate 4TB Drives and this pile of junk Orico 9528RU3. Well made tin case. but finding the drivers and software on their so called "Support site" is a joke. I only wanted to add storage, not even set up for raid just simple storage and it could not even manage that. would of been better just buying a Sata Ports extension for to hard drives etc. Never had a product that managed to destroy 2 brand new initialised and formatted hard drives, all new all bought at the same time on Amazon. no support link nothing will be attempting to send this rubbish back asap after day one!!! Take the advice from others on here (who did warn us) did not think it would happen to me etc I WAS WRONG DO NOT BIY ORICO PRODUCTS! the software simply does not work

pretty useless
Well... it wiped my drives kinda...removed the NTFS header so that windows saw them as Raw format and wanted to format them ..if you ever come across this problem..Do Not Format!!Use a free program called DMDE (google it) it will scan the drive and allow you to recover the files to a working drive.. When that is acheived .. You can then format the drives and have it usable again. I wouldn't reccomend this product on this issue alone... Its a ball ache when you find after not even one day!! of use it made the 2 drives i installed useless.Looking for another 2 bay disk solution , might get a 2 bay DAS now from a reputable brand.Hope this helps.

DOES NOT WORK!
I have had the enclosure for 3 months, working fine and then suddenly just stops working. Windows can't seem to read the drives. I have contacted support and they are useless, amazon are also useless and refuse to return!Catch 22 now, going to have to fork out a few £100's to get a decent drive from another manufacturer

Very Neat and effective Product.
Works very well as mirror Raid. Instructions do not mention that it has to be plugged in via usb during set up, otherwise It keeps going off due to the sleep/wake signal it needs. Had me baffled for a while.Very easy to install drives, no fiddly screws. It has doors with locking keys.

Superb quality, very quick and easy to set-up, very nice, smooth, drive insertion too.
Used this with 2x Seagate BarraCuda 10TB Enterprise Hard Drives. Works perfectly, very quiet, gets warm rather than hot, and looks very smart too. Worth EVERY penny over cheaper options which are slow, and in some cases will kill your hard drives.
