This 48" shelf was heavy, sturdy and exactly what I wanted for my workbench. However, a design flaw that I did not discover until mounting knocked off 2 stars.All of the weight discussion centers on mounting the shelf to studs. For a 48" shelf, I would expect to hit 2 or 3 studs framed 16" on center. Unfortunately, the 5 mounting holes are drilled 11.6" apart. That means you can only hit 1 stud! None of the other mounting holes line up with a stud. I used heavy-duty drywall anchors on the other 4 holes since I expect to put a good amount of weight on this heavy-duty shelf.As a suggestion to the manufacturer, I understand why the end holes had to be drilled further in (thereby not allowing for 3 stud mounting). However, instead of evenly spacing the holes at 11.6", there should be holes 16" apart from the end. That would allow you to hit a stud on one end and at least 1 additional stud next to it.

Started to rust after 6 months. No longer really usable since it doesn't look good with lots of rust all over.***Seller contacted me after posting my review and offered to send another free of charge. In looking back at the purchase the item does say it is RAW steel, not stainless, which is my mistake. I would recommend purchasing from this seller since they stand by their product.

Purchased several of these shelves in different sizes, all in matte black. They are minimal and super heavy duty and will last a lifetime. I did use different anchors than those provided to install them, but that was a personal preference.

It was the perfect size and perfect look next to my black metal headboard. Living in NYC in a small apartment it maximized the space and gave me a bedside table without a traditional night stand to bump into when getting out of bed! All other shelves were either to long or not deep enough. It's simple sign and size gives enough space to put what your need on it - not clutter. It was a bit pricey, but was worth it because I was locked into specific dimensions. I installed it with the lip up, because I felt crumbs or drink spills would run down the wall, and I like the exposed black screws.

I had been scouring for several weeks for the perfect shelves to display my Japanese teacups but I also hate clutter. My home is rustic with a modern aspect also. These shelves are so perfect. Easy to install. I could do so much to them such as patina but I love them raw!!!! They are sturdy. Can be used like this or flipped to have the brace under. The seller was so responsive and friendly and even paid for shipping for me to return and swap a smaller size for bigger. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

I used these shelves for an open wall in my work-space above the work bench. They are sturdy and look just like the photos. The powder coat is also well done and durable. They are a bit expensive but I'm happy to pay the extra cost for a few reasons...I spoke directly with the owner of DIY CARTEL and he was very helpful and responded to my question pretty quick. I'm always open to supporting a small business, especially one that sources and makes there product here in the USA. This kind of stuff really matters to me.

Photos attached.A little history about my NYC tenement kitchen.Many years ago I decided to move the stove away from the window, seen on the left of the photo. We extended the black iron gas line. This gave me the idea to get more black iron pipe to install as 2 hanging racks above the gas pipe line. I was too stubborn to install an intermediate support along the 9 foot span, not minding a slight pipe sag.This New Years Eve my fantastic new stove arrived. I was inspired to spruce up my pipe hanging system. I ordered your shelves to get more storage for odd items above my upper pipe rail. At the mid point of the gas lines I painstakingly installed my supports out of pipe hanging cast iron items (by myself! A 103lb 60 year old hot “old” lady!) Took forever to hacksaw the threaded rods, but got the job done happily) The gap in the 2 48” steel shelves align with the new pipe supports.I love it all!Now I am artfully hanging my kitchen supplies & now have room to display much used vases and odd cooking items on your beautiful shelves.One problem - my wall is slightly concave at one point. When we tightened down the shelf at that point, it torqued slightly. I thought about that for a while. Then just loosened the screws at two points, weighted down the shelf web there with about 25 pounds, and it was straight by the next morning. It has 3 solid anchor points, and two slightly loosened anchor points. I figure this is just fine.Thanks for making a great product. I hope you are happy with how it inspired me!

Very heavy duty. I got the white one. Clean lines, just right for above kitchen counter.We have our Bose speaker on it and some small canisters. Great for going vertical in a small kitchen.Being metal, you can attach magnetic items to the bottom. For example, we have our bottle opener discretely tucked under it. Handy, ready to go, but invisible. You could find a million reasons to like this shelf. A bit expensive, maybe. But will last forever! If you are on the fence just buy it, you will be happy you did.
