I had a lot of fun building this owl clock kit. It is not for the beginner but isn't extremely hard to build with some care.Now a bit of personal advice. The clock runs by a single AA battery driven quartz movement that has nothing to do with all the gears. The movement is completely self contained and you only have to put the hands on. The gears only drive a "timer" and pendulum which has to be wound up with two springs. One for the mechanism and one for the bell that rings when time is up. my advice is to not worry about how well the gears work because even if it runs smoothly, the timer is essentially worthless in this age of smartphones, digital timers and digital watches. Build it for fun but use it only for the excellent clock which is quite attractive.

The clock was a long build, but ultimately the bell doesn’t ring when the timer expires. The gears and pendulum only work when the timer is counting down, which was a little disappointing. The clock face is completely separate, battery powered, and requires partial disassembly to replace, which is not great considering the wood is supposed to be a very snug fit.

This this model was fantastic! Not only was it fun to assemble, but it's beautiful when it's done! I did have an issue with a broken piece, for the main timer dial. It showed up to me broken. When I reached out for a replacement, they were able to replace it immediately, and I was able to complete the model. I really appreciate not only a great product, but also amazing customer service! We gave this to my very mechically adept teenage daughter for Christmas. We were pleased with both the look and quality of both product and packaging. It takes a decent amount of patience and skill to put together. So from that perspective, it was perfect for us, but perhaps not for someone younger. And it looks great assembled - just like the picture. So why only 3 start? Because of 2 big disappointments. One it is not a mechanical clock - the clock is battery operated (and running through them too fast to be useful anyway). I suppose it probably mentions that in the description if I'd read more carefully. What the gears actually do operate is a timer, and the biggest flaw of the whole product is that that doesn't work properly. The gears just wouldn't align properly to be able to keep it running and no amount of tweaking or fiddling helped. I conclude that you just can't get the precision needed using wood. Even though well made, there was still little too much warping for the gears to align properly. A lesson in why real mechanical clocks use metal.

The media could not be loaded. Wood is quite sturdy. Laser cut is clean, but exercise caution removing parts. Only the smallest parts needed sanding. Don't sand unless you must; check the fit first and only sand what you need to. Most parts fit securely. This build was fun and challenging; not an easy build. The end of Step 11 entails fitting two major assemblies together. This is where I got frustrated, as pieces kept falling out, and I had to glue two pieces to finally succeed. Instruction diagram is clear, but with limits. Scan QR code for videos to help, and figure out the rest, it's puzzle, after all. It took about 14 hours in no particular hurry, over four days, but 2 hours on the Step 11. All in all it was a lot of fun, and the mechanism is fascinating. This is my third build, but certainly not my last. Highly recommended. Best of all, my wife likes it.

This was our second one of these kits. We did the jewelry box first. These are not bad if you follow directions. They have really good instructions.This kit is a lot more sensitive than the jewelry box. There are spacers and little tools to use to make it work right.Be sure to sand the little punch out tips so the piece is smooth. Wax anything expected to move. they include a small piece and it is not enough. clear or white birthday candles work great.It comes with a working clock feature. That clock will run true no matter what happens. If you don't get it exactly right the only thing that don't work is the swinging pendulum. We put ours out of reach to protect it so it doesn't matter but... It does work.Most of all this was fun and we got it together in one day. Mostly because we had already done a different kit and knew what to expect.Another important tip - Do Not punch out anything until you need it. The part number is not written on the piece most of the time. Some stuff looks the same and there is a slight difference. Make sure you are putting the part in the right direction. Once you get the hang of it you go fast.

The product kept me busy for the winter.

My husband bought this for himself but we ended up putting it in together on a Friday night with vino!It's lovely and makes a great piece to have in our office! And it works perfectly!

Daughter loved it

Got it as a Christmas present and it's really beautiful, but some of the pieces just automatically fall out and it becomes a pain when certain areas just fall apart. But the one who received the gift had a really good time putting it together!

Love this!! Fairly straightforward to assemble. A couple of parts were super fiddly, but it all went together and it works just fine. Looks amazing.

Fun to assemble. I enjoy all of the ROKR puzzles.
