cheap but effective
This gets 4 stars because it was inexpensive and works. I bought this to shade myself while eating lunch in a courtyard at work, and everyone sitting in the noon sun has taken notice. It definitely creates enough shade for one person. The most important thing about the umbrella is the clamp, which I'll describe...It has a plastic clamp that can grip both a tubular chair arm (the clamp has a groove for this) or a table (the clamp also has a flat surface). The clamp can only open a couple of inches, so there's a limit as to how thick the table can be. Similarly, the groove can probably only effectively accommodate a tubular chair arm of 1-1.5" diameter. Also, the clamp can be rotated to grip the side of a chair (i.e. the clamp can grip something that stands upright). I don't expect the clamp to be durable since it's plastic. Also, it's attached to the base of the umbrella by a ~4" plastic neck that allows the umbrella to flex a little in a light breeze. I expect this to break at some point. :) When clamped to a tubular metal arm chair, a strong breeze can blow the umbrella over, so be careful when sitting next to someone.

3 feet -- not 4 feet as advertised -- but it's still sort of okay.
When opened fully, this umbrella -- which is described as being four feet in diameter -- is just over three feet (around thirty-eight inches). What they're calling a "tilt feature" appears to be simply a flexible wire inside the plastic area near the clamp, which allows you to flex it as you would a Gumby or other bendable character. It does provide some shade when clipped to the arm of a chair, but when I attempted to clip it to my little patio table, the jaws of the clamp were definitely not wide enough. Unfortunately, the arm of the metal-framed chair I clipped this to did get some surface scratches. So what's good about this umbrella? It's cheap. It does block the sun in the limited area its three-foot span covers, the very basic tilt feature is helpful, and the seller responded quickly and appropriately to my concerns. Oh, and in my case, the random color was a traffic-light green.

good product for average height people not for the very tall
Great product . Used it for a three day convention and it lasted all 3 days without breaking. I ordered 7 of them and none of them had any defects. I had low expectations because of the cost but was plesently surprised. It is not made for a very tall person If you are attaching it to a stadium/low chair, but if you were attaching it to a chair with a high back it should not be a problem. I am 5'5" and sat comfortably, but my husband who is 6' had to slouch to fit underneath it.

Not worth the pennies, spend on an upgraded umbrella
The umbrella didn't stay clamped to the stadium chair armrest as I had hoped (and it didn't fit the back of the chair), so I ended up holding it the whole time. With the slightest wind blow, the umbrella would blow to the side. Besides my arm getting tired, the umbrella was wide enough to keep the sun/rain off of me; and even covered over the chair next to me. I had ordered two, but ended up returning one - wish I could return the open one too.

Sun Shade!
To be honest I have not used it much. We ended up sitting under trees for our long weekend and I didn't need it. However I did try clamping it to my lawn chair and it worked very well and did not fall off. I think with the plastic reversible clamp, it may not last as long and does not seem very sturdy if it were very windy, but overall it is a nice little umbrella to use for shade.

Cheap and flimsy BUT I haven't found one better
If someone would make a QUALITY umbrella for this reason, I'd pay the cash for it!Since no one does - this one is okay but only fits chairs with a framed back. I use it when I take my 80 year old mom to parades so she doesn't have the sun on her for an hour.Had three, two eventually broke.

Not bad
Purchased for my chair but unfortunately it wouldn't work because my chair doesn't have a bar going across the back. (it's one of the quick fold up chairs) I did put this item on a regular aluminum folding chair and worked okay; held but not real tight as it kept wanting to fall forward or backward regardless of how tight I had it.

Shade anywhere convenience.
It was OK although higher price than stores which were out of them. I do wish the pole was a little longer as it barely clears my head when I clamp it on the chair arm. It does serve it's purpose for a quick portable shade in area where an free standing 9 ft umbrella does not work.
