Impossible to put down..
As soon as I heard Kerry was releasing a follow on to The dark side of the mind I pre ordered without thinking twice. Having read the author's first book in one sitting I was eager for this one to arrive, and it has not disappointed. This book will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions told with a sensitive but humorous narrative.. I smiled as I read about Clifford (Kerry seems to meet a lot of clients who carry stuff around in carrier bags ). Angry as Kerry recalls the use of provocation as defence up until recent times while discussing the case of Stuart, Sadness for Aleena and Evelyn and then happiness as we are told about Izaac's hard work paying off.. All of the stories in the book are rich with information about the history of psychology and psychotherapy, and Kerry's own story.. which turns out to be quite rebellious :). You can tell that Kerry is deeply passionate about her work and not afraid to call out bad practise and outdated thinking. This is a fascinating book, highly recommended.. I can't wait for the next instalment.

Brilliant.
Kerry’s second book is as good as her first, if not better. Kerry is respected in her field and it shows and it is clear she writes with an honesty and humour about herself and the people she interacts with and the experiences she finds herself in that very few of us have had any dealings with. This book covers a number of chapters including many topics and stories about working with those who find themselves struggling with situations they find themselves in that, at at times, obviously concern their mental health. The book shows that Kerry has gone above and beyond when the system has possibly given up on these people. We need more people like Kerry.

A Must Read for Everyone
I love the way Kerry writes. I always find reading things she has written be it her books, tweets or articles easy to read. Kerry always explains things in a way that makes them understandable to those not familiar with her field. That’s important I feel as when people use long words and complicated explanations it makes reading a lot harder.I also found that some of the stories of the people that Kerry has worked with resonated a little with me. I’m not saying I’m a criminal before anyone says anything (🙄). Rather that the stories that involve mental health and sometimes it not being properly diagnosed struck a chord as I have been through that whole debacle.I don’t want to spoil this for the many that haven’t read it yet but this book has changed my life. It’s given me fresh perspective. Kerry’s unique perspective and humour make this book easy to read and get lost in. Hearing tales of the people she has worked with will make you reevaluate your views on those who commit crime. This book is a must read. For everyone.Thank you for writing this book Kerry. X

Another great read from Kerry Daynes
I couldn’t wait to read this book after enjoying her first ‘Dark Side of The Mind’, and I was not disappointed. Kerry talks about the people she comes into contact with professionally with respect and understanding, and has huge insight into the people behind the diagnosis. I didn’t want the book to end, but alas it just did. Please write another one soon Ms Daynes!

Fantastic read!
This book is a wonderful mixture of deep compassion, understanding, difficult honesty and self reflection (both as an individual and as a society), along with a no nonsense, no excuses approach. Kerry is clearly not only exceptionally talented at her job as forensic psychologist but also as a writer, taking you on an entertaining and thought provoking tour of the human mind. A new firm favourite!
