Fido [DVD]

A boy and his dog
Nothing more heart warming than seeing a young lad learn the adult responsibilities of owning a pet.

A breath of rotten flesh...
I tend to trust customer reviews on here more than I do magazine articles or the suchlike and bought this on the strength of one.So this automatically gets at least 1 star for having Billy Connolly in, there's nothing (film-wise) I can think of he's been in that he doesn't bring something good to and this in a non-spoken role, he still completely owns the movie, which isn't to say the rest of the cast aren't great. For a plot synopsis you can read the other reviews or the amazon blurb, just bear in mind you can pick this up for about £1 used and new and it's well worth it, you'll get repeat viewings out of this. Think Pleasentville crossed with Brain Dead, although this isn't gore-heavy, it's more of a buddy movie with plenty of subtle humour going on.This is a great addition to any film collection, very surprised this movie wasn't a "hit", the sort of thing you can whip out and surprise your friends with.

a feel good zombie movie (if there is such a thing!)
I saw this in sainsburys, looked at it, saw it was Billy Connolly as the zombie and thought NO! I went home and had second thoughts and bought it immediately from amazon. All I can say is...I loved it. Me, my 11 year old daughter and 13 year old son watched it and they loved it too. It is a feel good movie with just a bit of zombie gore mixed in with 1950's style (loved the cars). Acting was good and thought Billy Connolly was great as the pet zombie. Well worth a look.

I'm going zombie too.
If you like zombies or Tim Burton or John Waters or 1950's Americana you'll dig this film. However, if you're like me and well into all these elements you'll be in seventh heaven. I rate this higher than SotD. Set in a great technicolor movie world of it's own with lots of very funny quotable dialogue. The acting is just pitch perfect throughout including some of the best zombie staggering you'll ever see. Billy Connolly usually annoys me but here he is just the most lovable, crazy, wonderful zombie ever. The only thing that could have improved this film would be a better title, something to hook the fans like "Zombie Come Home" or "My Pet Zombie".

Should be a cult hit
How this didn't get a general release in Scotland I will never know, like "pleasantville" with zombies, and the "star" zombie none other than Billy Connolly. showing how politicians and entrepreneurs will make money out of anything and contrasting them to a more "humane" zombie the film works well as a zomcom and a "boy and his dog" movie. Must rate highly for the "weirdest happy ending" award, worth 90 minutes of anyone's time.

More good zombie fun!
Not the best zombie comedy around, but certainly woth a watch. Can't help feeling it would have been better if Billy Connolly had a talking role in the film, Another actor could have played the part of Fido just as well. But still good fun to watch and with the low amazon price tag, How can you lose?

Beautiful, whimsical, funny
This is a wonderful zombie film set in the 50s about domesticated zombies and all sorts of trouble that a boy and his zombie get into. Great acting, great directing and great cinematography and some wonderful, funny and whimsical moments. I loved this film and wonder what took me so long to watch it.
