Replaced an old N600 type. Unplugged the old, plugged this in, configured to the same and I was up and running in minutes, and MUCH faster.I also replaced all my 10/100 switches with Gigaswitches. AMAZING speed increase

I wanted this specific white, back port switch and was happy that someone had it (even if it was discontinued by Netgear).

Worked just like it was designed. I thought I would have to redo the entire network. I needed 2 extra connections and it worked out great.

I had recently upgraded my mesh network from Netgear Orbi to Google Nest Wifi. But because the Nest only comes with 1 extra LAN port, I needed a switch. I used the Orbi Router RBR50 as an access point, and connected my devices (printer, etc) to its LAN ports. It worked well for a while, but as time went on, I kept losing my connections and had to reset mu network every day. I looked around for a compatible switch for my Nest wifi and I discovered that the Netgear 5-port Gigabit switch was one of the recommended switches.Since I installed it I had no issues with my connectivity. It works great!I highly recommend this product.

The back of my IP Internet tower has only 4 ethernet ports. I wanted to plug in 2 computers, solar inverter wifi, home thermostat wifi and security system wifi. That's 5 things, so I had to buy a wireless network card for one computer, or get more ethernet ports. I bought this to simply extend the number of ports I had, and it works great. I plugged in the 3 wifi smart home controllers to this, leaving 3 sockets on my router for direct computer Lan connections, which freed up 2 new ethernet port sockets on my router.This is a small 4" x 3" box, and I put something on top of it so it actually doesn't take up any premium space sitting on my router table.*IMPORTANT - this does not come with any cables. If you are buying it to extend your ethernet port sockets on your router like I did, you will need to buy a short cable to connect this to your router!I happened to have an old cat 5 short cable from an old modem laying around to connect it... but cat 5 is an outdated cable type which limits you to only 100 mb. This is plenty for most people, but if you have a very fast internet speed or don't already have a short cable from an old router/modem, you will need a cable, and cables are not included.I recommend you buy a short cat 6 Ethernet cable when you order this. I myself are waiting for my new cable to arrive from Amazon, just to have an updated cable. I found a 1' long cat 6 cable on Amazon for $.99 (a dollar). I didn't want to order a $1 item from Amazon by itself, so I waited til I had another order to tack it to. I still don't have it yet. Save yourself some time and buy your cable with this unit.Tip: the longer your cable, the more data drop off you have (it's not a lot, but with data, speed matters), so always buy the shortest cable to get the job done (this is true for monitor cables, ethernet cables, basically any/all data cable).I hope this is helpful!

My old exact model died and had to replace after 8 years. I went to Best Buy because I needed it now but, you would have thought this switch was the last on the planet. Was listed for $44.00 so I left and ordered this one. They are great switches and will buy again. I currently run three at my house for items I want only hard wired.
