Constantly mis-feeds
While easy to use this scanner constantly mis-feeds documents. I always make sure that my scan batch only around 30 pages at a time to try and minimize problems. But this scanner pulls in multiple sheets at a time, thereby skipping them in the scan document probably 90% of the time. This is especially noticeable if the pages have been folded, such as trying to scan something that has been mailed. Don't buy this scanner.

Best multi-page scanner that I have used. Period. Equal to or better than expensive office scanners.
I recently started working from home meaning I no longer have regular access to my office's mammoth-sized scanner/printer/fax. I have an HP scanner/printer at home but frankly it is terrible when it comes to scanning multi-paged documents or anything that is double-sided. I have tried other single purpose home scanners but they too generally fail when it comes to scanning more than a couple of pages. They misfeed all the time, have problems with different paper types and are generally more frustrating than I care to deal with. The ScanJet Pro 2000 provides an entirely different experience.I installed the software on a Lenovo laptop. It doesn't have a DVD drive but HP thoughtfully provided a short url link to the drivers right on the install instructions. The install went off without a hitch. I connected the scanner and gave it a try. My first scan was a 12 page, double sided, bank document. It took less than 30 seconds to get a perfectly legible PDF document. I tried it on a much longer document next - 56 pages front and pack. It worked perfectly - not a single page misfed even when the pages had previously been stapled together. This is NOT the case with most sheet fed scanners out there.I ended up going through 3 months of accumulated statements, receipts and other documents that I had not yet digitized and shredded. In the perhaps 300 pages I scanned, I didn't have a single problem.I ran a few documents through the OCR software. The results were very good. All OCR programs have issues with columns of data. The HP software seems to be further along the curve than many. One common objection to buying a stand alone scanner is having yet another device taking up limited desk space. The ScanJet 2000 folds up so that it takes up about as much space as a large loaf of bread. It is half the size of my HP scanner/printer which is already one of their smaller models. This scanner requires a USB connection. That may bother some but it's fine by me. The installation was seamless which isn't always the case with network printers. This makes this scanner a good option for the non tech savants among us.This is the ideal scanner for anybody interested in hassle free scanning, whether clearing a backload of docs like me, or simply keeping up with the normal flow of mail that you get. You will not find a scanner that is more reliable.

Great product, worse than Fujitsu, better than Brother
This is HP's answer to the Fujitsu ix500, which is really considered the gold standard for a small business (or personal) scanner. The Fujitsu scanners are easy to use, and have lasted years and years with no issues. They are truly a great product.I have a Fujitsu, and I LOVE it, and would never trade it in for the HP. Having used both, I can say that I like the Fujitsu better, I find it more sturdy and more easy to use. The Fujitsu is also almost twice the price of this HP. So.. you decide what works for you.HOWEVER, if you are coming to this product having used the Brother family of scanners (which I have also done) - the HP blows Brother out of the water! It is seriously such a far superior product at such a better price that I can't imagine why anyone would ever purchase a Brother scanner.Five stars.
