Contradictory information, and nothing new
Dr. Goglia: You need to eat a low-protein, low-fat, high-carb diet.Me: okayGoglia: So that means your macro ratios are 50% protein, 30% fat and 20% carbs.Me: wait, what?Goglia: Don't think too much, just drink 1 ounce of water per pound of bodyweight per day, at least.Me: That would be 200 ounces, I don't think that's...Goglia: Eat your veggies.Me: Yes, I've known that since I was 6, but what about -Goglia: the program is 2 weeksMe: the cover says 3 weeksGoglia: If you want to quit the program you have three complicated processes to go through online and while you are figuring those out, which will take a couple weeks, I will still be charging you.Me:.....this was a mistake.

Needs major revision
Like many other reviewers, I had difficulty with this book. The overall concept is great. The book is so full of errors though, that it makes it nearly impossible to follow. One error is the formula for calculating Resting BMR. In one example it says: 160 + 2.26 x 24 = 1699. It should be a division sign instead of the addition sign. There are lots of errors like that. I could not use the formula in the book for calculating Body Fat Composition and had to go online to find a calculator. When I finally figured out all the formulas to pick the caloric chart to start with.... I decided I would substitute a protein I didn’t have for one I did have.... I realized that the portion amounts are off for some foods listed. The further you go into the book, the worse the errors get.You are supposed to have a new caloric chart each week to follow and as you lose weight you have to go through all the calculations again. This is probably easier for people who are into fitness and have experience with fitness formulas. I suggest writing down the correct formulas somewhere and reference those, not the book. I saw a video a couple years ago where Goglia said he was going to update the book and he hasn’t. I even checked around to see if there were published corrections and didn’t find any. His new G-Plan business offers the food guide portions book for free/or for an upcharge depending on if you select the website program or the app program. I’m not willing to pay additional money for it after seeing these mistakes. After careful research into G-Plans and this book, I think I will select a different program to follow because this one is going to require too much time investment to ensure I’m doing the correct thing. I’m just not in a place in my life to do that. I want something more simplified... and correct in the first place.I do hope he revised this book eventually or offers corrections somewhere.

Not sure if it's just my copy, but it's ...
Not sure if it's just my copy, but it's unedited. There are tons of typos and it's hard to understand the formulas with the typos. Its says a 2 week diet on the cover but it's 3 weeks? Then, there's a part where it says 1 bread exchange is 1/2 cup of rice but in the back it's 1/3 cup of rice? So which is it?

No matter what your metabolic type is all of the food plans in this book are the same!
Thought the idea of the plan was good. Typing yourself is difficult, if you don’t easy fit into a category. He also talks about eating different for each type, but if you look through the plans in the back of the book they are all the same. That made it hard for me to understand why wrote the book and offer a plan that is not correct for your type

It Works
I lost 5 lbs the first 2 weeks and have been parked there for about a month. No fault of the program. The concept of this program is understanding your metabolic makeup and working it. I'm fat-protein metabolism and should consume 50% protein, 25% fat, 25% carbohydrates daily. I stick to this structure even though I don't follow the program 100% everyday. Also you must eat every 3-4 hrs to maintain good blood sugar levels throughout the day. Plus drink your weight in water everyday. I do have more energy. Drinking that much water everyday is difficult esp on the weekends when there is less structure to my day. Overall I think this program works but you have to work it. It's good knowing my metabolic type. Before starting see your MD to get basic lab work (CBC, CMP, lipid panel). I used labs that were a few months old. You don't have to be a pro but it helps if you have a good knowledge of health. If you're a complete amateur you may find this program difficult. I do wish Dr G would write an up to date version because it's difficult knowing which eating plan to select (hence 4 stars) and some of the information is outdated.

I recommend this book to everyone struggling with their weight.
I start by saying that the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the editor did an awful job of finding spelling errors and small mistakes and a few things could be better clarified to the reader. However, that being said, the author is a genius. I followed the program as directed except that I was only able to workout once a week. I saw minimal weight loss the first half of the program. However, I stuck with it and as I neared the goal of 50% protein, 25% fat and 25% carb the pounds started to fly off!!! I easily lost 10lbs. I use this meal program with an app (that helps me track my percentages). It is easy once you get the hang of it. This guy is the nutritionist to the Kardashian’s and for good reason. He is AMAZING at what he does. If you want the expertise of a nutritionist to the stars, without the bill I HIGHLY recommend this book. I hope someday he will do his own version of a meal delivery service and it can make good nutrition even easier for the public.

but now I finally feel like I am moving in the right directions
I've been following this program for three weeks now. Not only do I have the energy I had been lacking, I have lost inches after struggling to do so for months. I am someone who works out consistently 6 days a week, but just couldn't get rid of the last extra pounds I wanted to, but now I finally feel like I am moving in the right directions. I've had better gains with my lifting as well. This isn't a fad diet, but a lifestyle, and one that is actually easy to maintain.

Can you rely on a book full of grammar and spelling mistakes?!
For a book on nutrition and health I am finding this to be quite poor in terms of both quality and value of information.Firstly, my biggest issue is that there are far too many grammar and spelling mistakes. I find it unsettling that this being the first book I have personally read that is so full of simple errors, is meant to be giving people complex and vital information to their health and yet the publisher and author seems to have totally neglected their responsibility to check for these errors. Those errors aside, I am currently half way through and have found that the only relevant information has been that there are apparently three different types of people's metabolisms that handle the three major food groups (fats proteins and carbs) differently. My only concern with this ideology however is that I couldn't find any other sources that use these ideas in other studies or diets. The book is also full of jargon and case studies which although not unhelpful to know, I find it just filler to a book that so far could have been one short chapter to tell me everything I need to know.Based on my experiences so far I would not recommend.

Not for me
I was hoping for more explanation of how it works rather than a daily planner for each type of diet you should be on, therefore a lot of pages aren’t relevant to you as a reader, glancing through, you probably only need to read 10% of the book to understand what you need to be doing.
