The Heineken Kidnapping [Blu-ray]

A film drama based on a real life event and failing to connect in the story telling because of the transition of facts to thescreen and the screenwriters' liberties with such. However, movies like this should inspire the pursuit to seek out thereal life facts and events and this is where I give it 5 stars...It created a curiosity to find out what it really was all about andso I headed to wikipedia and then IMDb to read up on the production etc of the movie. Some characters such as the youngvillains are hard to translate to the screen as they are shallow personalities without much going for them except their criminalbehaviors or endeavors. Men like Heineken didn't get to where they are by being passive...watching Rutger Hauer adroitlyturn the tables on his captors was worth the five stars I gave to it. Well played,,,,very well played and that is the way it shouldhave been in this movie...he was not equal to his captors, I don't see how the script could have conveyed them as on anypar with this industrial giant...somebody always wants what someone else has...whether its' Heineken business associates,family members or his abductors....watch this movie more than once and check out the real facts...there is room for theinterpretation to the screen of this story - just a different angle. Gave one of the stars for the casting of Hauer - the moviejust would not be the same without his acting abilities.....

I am a huge Rutger Hauer movie fan .. this movie represents a part of World history that is remarkable and not well known about. If you are ready to sit and READ subtitles then this movie is for you .. the only reason I give this movie a 5Star is because the acting and story line is easy to follow ... I've yet had the time to watch and read the whole movie

this is Rutger Hauer at his best..........it's a foreign movie so it's sub-titled, but it is excellent....I've watched it about 8 times now and just love it.......excellent movie and acting.......Rutger is just fantastic, no one could play this part but him......in the bonus part of the DVD, he is so proud of the movie and very humble about playing the part of Heineken........so glad to have bought this movie, worth every penny........5 star movie, just excellent.............and maybe today, I'll watch it again!!!.......

Rutger Hauer did one of his finest acting jobs ever in this little known and remembered true story here in the U.S. We wish the spoken language was English rather than Dutch but after a while you forget that you are reading sub-titles because the story is done so well. If you buy this be sure and watch the extras as they show the real location of most of the story, along with many of the items the perpatrators used and their pictures. The actors that played the parts resembled the real villains.

This is a real-life kidnapping that the movie dealt with sensitively and honestly. Rutger nailed his performance as a quiet, rather reticent rich man (Heineken)caught up in a situation where he had no control over the outcome other than to tell his business managers to pay the ransom. Good plot, good acting by all. Very restrained and thoughtfully done.

This is an interesting disc but I was left somewhat unimpressed by some of the direction. Almost no cover is given to the efforts by the police to find Heineken and capture the criminals. It seems to happen almost by accident. What happened to the nasty piece of work who escaped? There were too many loose ends to make this a fully satisfying experience and I could see no point in that. Technically the disc is fine, A locked, but there were three 6 minute adverts at the front that were troublesome to skip. It is too expensive for what you get. Rent!

A little lame sometimes but having grown up in Holland, I understand it better.I like the story and Rutger Hauer, the actor Mr Heineken, I have met personally 3 times.He is a great actor and wonderful person. I would see this movie again.

Knowing a little about the history connected with this film, and also aware of the aftermath, this film makes great watching. Rutguer Hauer plays a great part, he is totally remorseless in his pursuit of his captors, although the ending is a little slow it portrays accurately all the happenings in this true story.
