Power anywhere.
This item comes, as advertised, with two accessories. There is the 12volt "cigarette lighter" female plug and a longer cable with battery terminals on it. Both of these accessories plug directly into the plug attached to the panel. What I have used it for:On a sunny day, I took it to the park and laid it out flat on a park bench when the sun was as close to zenith as it can be at noon in WI in the beginning of April. First I charged my I-phone. A simple 12 volt usb adapter plugged into the 12 volt cig. plug did the trick and the phone immediately started charging, no issue with "charging not possible with this accessory" messages like I got trying to use my Brunton 5W thin film charger. This is the 14 watt and worked great, charging the phone just as fast as the wall charger can. Finished with that, I then charged an Ipod. With that at 100 percent, I plugged in a Brunton Solo Batt Pack and started charging 4 eneloop AA batteries. I finally departed with a haze forming in the sky and the sun's angle lower at about 3:30PM. The panel laid flat the entire time and was not canted toward the sun. So, in 3.5 hours, it was able to charge two devices, one from about half charge, the other from below 20%. It also put enough charge into the eneloop batteries to charge my Ipad that night by about 5%. That's not bad when you consider a set of AA charged in a LaCrosse Tech wall charger only charged the Ipad about 17%. In 1.5 to 2 hours it managed to bring the batteries up from a low charge to almost a third of the charge they would have had overnight plugged into the wall.I can't speak to the panel's ability to charge laptops, but I was surprised when I took my Panasonic portable dvd player and plugged it into the 12 volt cig. plug. It started charging! I am impressed. My advice is go big. I have messed around with the smaller panels because of an acute case of the cheaps. They never did what I wanted them to. Finally getting the panel big enough made all the difference in the world. I would never recommend a panel smaller than 14 watts. I would also recommend that if you want to take one of these panels backpacking, take a foldable one, not the roll. I love the roll model, but it does take up some room and you have to be careful not to squash it flat when it is rolled. Between the Brunton and the Powerfilm (I have both brands) I would definitely recommend Powerfilm. The cells are made in the USA and it just plain works better.Update 3/15/18. I’ve had this panel for 5 years now and it is still going strong. I’ve found that the best way to get all available power out of this device is to use a Ravpower 12 volt to USB adapter. It returns to full power even after the panel has been shaded. Be sure to get their longer model, the short one will not reach the bottom of the Powerfilm socket. Right now it is in good sun, tilted towards the sun and putting out 1.91 amps and 5.12 volts while charging an iPad Air 2. The only signs of age are a slight yellowing where the white sides of the panel meet the black sections. It is stored rolled up and out of the sun. It does not get used heavily, but age has not affected its performance.

Worked great for three years then decomposed
It is a great charger for my sailboat batteries , but it simply composted after 3 years of use.

Works great for kayak touring.
I purchased this R14 14 watt solar panel about 4 years ago. It was for kayak and canoe camping. It fits unrolled under the rear bungie cords of my 15.5 foot kayak and I string the cable into the rear hatch to charge stuff while paddling. It charges a small 50 watt lithium battery pack that I use to charge iPads, iPhone, AA and AAA batteries for GPS and 2 GPRS radios for chatting between the boats. It also charges batteries for the 3 cameras we use for photos and video. Use it kayak camping in northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. Also took it on a 5 day kayak trip off the west coast of Vancouver island British Columbia. I still have total confidence in the panel working every time. When traveling, it rolls up to about 5 inches, goes in a stuff sack and the center gets stuffed with clothing so it takes almost no space. It is expensive but so is the cost of getting to the middle of nowhere and then running out of camera batteries because the location or wildlife is so awesome.I am contemplating ordering the 60 watt rollable solar panel to charge a battery pack we use to run a dc fridge while car camping. On days we paddle, we don't run the vehicle long enough to recharge the battery pack. Not as critical as the small one we take on expeditions so I am not sure if I can justify the cost of the getting that high quality panel.

Failed after 3 months
Carefully installed on top my Sienna minivan, using the top roof rack as a frame. It sat on top of plastic flexible spars I built for support.Connected to a fused DC panel inside to keep the main vehicle battery trickle charged. Primarily I specd the R14 to supply enough current for my HF radio in the receive mode with the engine off.All great until winter, the panel output slowly dropped. Pulled panel, inspected- no bends or any other visible defects. All I can assume is that the extreme cold temperatures here in Wisconsin destroyed the cells somehow.Cut it up and tossed out.

So far so good
I'm using it on my boat. Overall great panel. I wish it had 2 more grommets somewhere midway, since it's super thin, it can easily turn into a sail on a blustery day.

A good, high-quality product
A good, high-quality product. The short-circuit current is 0.9A. Through DHL came to Russia in two weeks in integrity and safety. I recommend the seller, reliable and honest. Now nature tours will become less dependent on small energy consumers. Put in the car to maintain the acid battery in the winter.

Solar Trickle Charger
I have installed large, glass, metal-framed solar chargers on a previous boat, but wanted something light, flexible, and removable for the tender to a large motor yacht. This unit seems to work well and provides 0.3 to 0.5 amps of charging current under typical conditions in San Diego in the winter, which is enough to keep the battery charged when the only draw is occasional running of the bilge pump when it rains.

PVL 68 W for less than $200, delivering almost 5 amp
It is ridiculous to pay $200 for a panel delivering less than 1 amper when you can buy an Unisolar 68 W (delivering almost 5 amps.) for less than $200. See on ebay: jormorrocoy
