80g not 100g as advertised
The product is great and I have been using it for years. Only quibble is it's advertised as 100g and I received 2 x 40g packs. I don't mind as the price is still OK but felt just a little let down when I opened the packaging.

Hard to source ingredient that delivers on taste!
Dashi stock apparently forms the basis of alot of Japanese cooking and is traditionally made from simmering dried bonito fish flakes, seaweed, shitake mushrooms and sardines. This dried stock powder is the instant version that you can add directly to miso soup, japanese sauces or rice dishes. The pack contains 10 x 10g foil pouches and a little goes a long way. The powder is very fine and smells very strongly of fish (but not unpleasantly so). A small amount in a bowl of miso soup just gives it that extra kick and depth of flavour. I really like it and will be trying it out in a few more dishes.

Concentrated, authentic flavour. Great for okonomiyaki. Dissolved easily.
Beautiful! This is a really fine-grained stock powder that dissolves perfectly to give a strong umami kick. I got the tuna flavour, which is made from genuine dried bonito tuna.I used the first sachet to make okonomiyaki, Japanese pancakes, and it was absolutely perfect for this purpose. Each 10g sachet of powder is sealed and premeasured . You can use it to add zip to a stock to cook noodles, I will be popping a sachet into fish cakes and kedgeree, to add extra flavour. Those aren’t authentic Japanese dishes, but this will give them a lot of extra flavour.

Miso base or noodle soup stock
I like trying unusual things - this soup base, or stock, is traditionally served with tempura prawns in Japan, or used as a noodle sauce or miso soup.Using this information, I decided to have some with fresh fish and chips - I used only a small amount of water (100ml?) as I didn't want it too watery.I read the last ingredient is yeast extract. I am therefore not surprised to find out that it tastes salty when I try it. Slightly sweet, too. It really gives a punchy soup base that goes very well with fish and seafood.

Very savoury
Stock is the basis of every good savoury dish. These sachets of dashi are perfect for cooking in the oriental style, of course, and initially I used them that way. Dashi rice is very savoury, and the stock improves any fish dish. I decided to improvise and used a sachet in a classic British cottage pie. It was excellent. I feared it might taste fishy, as bonito is a main ingredient, but its overall savoury taste is perfect. If you enjoy oriental cooking, you need this. If you're a classic cook but like to try different ingredients, use this as a stock and I don't think you'll be disappointed. As it's currently unavailable to purchase I can't comment on value for money but I'll be interested to buy it if it's at all reasonable in price.

Ripoff
Received only 100 grams instead of the advertised 1kg. Only 10% of what I paid for.
